Windows - Send To

The "Send to" menu in Windows Explorer is a great tool that makes it easy to send files to your printer, My Documents folder, your desktop, or an email.
What you might not have known, however, is that you can add locations to this menu, such as a shared folder on a network, or a removable drive. Below I show you how — play around with different programs and locations… you might be surprised at how easy it can make your life!
In Windows XP:
Open Windows Explorer (right-click with your mouse on the start button and select "Explore").
Browse to your profile's directory, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Profile Name.
Open the "SendTo" folder. (If you can't see the "SendTo" folder, click on "Tools", "Folder Options" on the top menu bar. Then click on the "View" tab and then make sure the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected under the "Files and Folders" heading. Click "OK" and then open the "SendTo" folder which should now show.)
Right-click with your mouse anywhere within the folder and select "New" and then click on "Shortcut".
Follow the instructions in the wizard that appears, selecting a location through the "Browse" button. (If you want to add a removable drive as a location to the "Send To" menu, this drive needs to be attached to your computer before it will show in the list of locations.)
When you're finished with the wizard you'll see a new shortcut icon appear in the "SendTo" folder.
In Windows Vista:
Open Windows Explorer (right-click with your mouse on the start button and select "Explore").
Browse to your profile's directory, e.g. C:\Users\Profile Name.
Now browse to \AppData \Roaming \Microsoft \Windows \SendTo. (If you can't see these folders, click on "Start", "Control Panel". Make sure you're viewing it in the Classic View and then double-click on "Folder Options". Click on the "View" tab and then make sure the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected under the "Files and Folders" heading. Click "OK" and then return to Windows Explorer and browse to the "SendTo" folder which should now show.)

Now to test it (in both Windows XP and Vista):
Still in Windows Explorer, browse to any file — e.g. an image file.
Select the file and then right-click with your mouse on it.
From the menu that appears, select "Send To" and then click on the location you just added. The file is now copied to that location.
Browse to that location to make sure it's there.
